The Hertz Cento CK 165 is a 6.5 inch (165 mm) 2-way component speaker kit from the Hertz Cento range, rated at 95 W RMS (285 W peak). The kit pairs the C 165 SPP-M cone woofer with the C 26 Tetolon dome tweeter and CCX 2 crossovers, and fits standard 16.5 cm front door locations.

Key specifications

  • Type: 2-way component kit
  • Woofer: 165 mm (6.5") C 165, SPP-M cone
  • Tweeter: 26 mm (1") C 26 Tetolon dome
  • Power handling continuous / peak: 95 / 285 W
  • Impedance: 4 ohms
  • Sensitivity: 93 dB SPL
  • Frequency response: 55 Hz to 22.5 kHz
  • Crossover: CCX 2, 2.5 kHz @ 12 dB/oct, tweeter level 0 / +3 dB

For shallow door locations, see the slim-basket Hertz Cento CK 165 F. For smaller doors, see the Hertz Cento CK 130. The woofer and tweeter are also sold separately as the C 165 and C 26.

C 26 tweeter

The C 26 features a 26 mm (1 in.) Tetolon® dome with a 20 mm (0.8 in.) voice coil for detailed, natural reproduction of medium-high frequencies. Hertz optimised the C 26's dispersion characteristics for a natural, progressive roll-off and linear frequency response at the listening point.

C 165 woofer cone

The C 165 uses an SPP-M (Semi Pressed Paper-Mica) cone — semi-pressed paper enhanced with Mica powder for an excellent balance between lightness and damping. The oversized ferrite magnet delivers strong control even at higher excursions, for powerful, controlled bass.

CCX 2 crossover

The ultra-compact CCX 2 crossover uses selected components and includes a tweeter emission level control (0 / +3 dB) for flexible tuning to suit different installations.

CG 165 grilles

CG 165 grilles are included. Made from high-resistance ABS with a metal mesh, they provide solid protection and a refined finish suited to in-car installation.

About the Hertz CK 165

From our tech experts at CEN

Hertz Cento series 6.5 inch component set, with separate tweeters that can be mounted higher where you will actually hear them, rated at 95w RMS.

Who it suits

Drivers who want a proper front stage and are happy for tweeters to be mounted separately, which usually means a professional fit. Component sets are where a car system starts sounding like a hi-fi rather than louder.

Our tech experts advise

Sizes, adapter rings and harnesses vary by vehicle, year and trim, so we confirm what your car takes before ordering rather than guessing. Door treatment matters as much as the speaker itself, and an amplifier will get far more out of these than a head unit can. Installation is priced per vehicle, so get in touch with your make, model and year and we will confirm what it needs. See car audio installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will these speakers fit my car?

A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.

Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?

A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.

Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?

A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.

Q: Do these come as a pair?

A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.

Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?

A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.

Q: What is included with the Hertz CK 165?

A: The kit includes C 165 woofers, C 26 tweeters, CCX 2 crossover networks, tweeter flush mount clamps, angled surface mount housings, woofer grilles, screws, large and small speed clips, an owner's manual and templates on the box.

Q: What is the difference between the Hertz CK 165 and CK 165 F?

A: Both are 6.5 inch kits with the C 26 tweeter and CCX 2 crossover. The CK 165 uses the C 165 woofer and handles 95 W continuous, while the CK 165 F uses the C 165 F woofer with a super slim, reduced-depth basket for shallow factory locations and handles 90 W continuous.

Q: Can the CK 165 tweeter level be adjusted?

A: Yes. The CCX 2 crossover has a tweeter level control with 0 and +3 dB settings.
