Focal PS165FXE Flax Evo Series Expert 2 Way 6.5" Car Door Component Speakers 80w
Couldn't Load Pickup availability
The Focal PS165FXE is a 6.5-inch 2-way component speaker system from the Flax Evo Expert range, rated at 80 W RMS (160 W peak) at 4 ohms. It pairs flax-cone woofers with aluminium/magnesium inverted dome tweeters and bi-amp ready crossovers for detailed, natural sound.
The crossovers can be used passively or bi-amped, with the woofers and tweeters powered separately for even more clarity and impact. If you're looking for a 2-way 6.5" component set at a lower power rating, Focal also offer the Focal 165 AS Access Series at 60 W RMS.

Flax Evo Series Expert 6.5" component speaker system
The sound of flax
Focal found that a flax woofer cone produces a dynamic, natural sound. At half the weight of fibreglass, flax fibres create a rigid yet lightweight cone that improves accuracy and limits unwanted vibrations.
Bi-amped system
Focal pre-wires the included external crossovers for easier installation. Each crossover includes bi-amp connections — one for the woofer, one for the tweeter. Powering the drivers separately gives even more clarity and impact.
Tuned mass damper
Focal's patented surround uses "tuned mass damper" technology — the same principle used to stabilise earthquake-resistant skyscrapers. Greater control of the woofer cone results in smoother, more natural sound.
Power handling
The PS 165 FXE pairs flax woofers with Focal's M-profile inverted dome tweeters. The inverted dome design disperses high frequencies in a wide pattern for a natural soundstage, while the aluminium frame provides a rigid, non-resonant platform. With 80 W RMS power handling, adding an amplifier will significantly enhance their dynamic range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
Q: Can CEN fit these speakers for me?
A: Yes. CEN offers professional installation from our Nottingham premises. Contact us to book an installation slot or ask for a fitting quote.
Q: Can the Focal PS 165 FXE be bi-amped?
A: Yes. Each crossover has bi-amp connections, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter, so you can power them from separate amplifier channels.
Q: How much power do the PS 165 FXE speakers handle?
A: They are rated at 80 W RMS and 160 W peak, with a 4 ohm impedance.
Q: What is included with the Focal PS 165 FXE?
A: Two flax woofers, two inverted dome tweeters, two crossover networks, woofer grilles and grille rings, tweeter grilles and trim rings, OEM tweeter mounting rings, tweeter angle mount cups, woofer gaskets, speed clips, screws and the owner's manual.
