The 15WØv3 is a rugged performer with excellent efficiency, excursion capability and linearity. Its overall performance envelope that puts it right at the top of its price class. It features a beefy 2 in. diameter voice coil and our patented Elevated Frame Cooling design for enhanced power handling and reliability.
Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA)
DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, 15W0v3-4 motors display linear force over a long excursion range, and also maintain a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
Elevated Frame Cooling
The elevated frame design of the 12W0v3-4 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.
- Rear Gasket: The woofer has a rear gasket to provide an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.
- Long Excursion: The 15W0v3-4 subwoofer has 12.7mm of linear excursion, giving you louder bass with less distortion.
Enclosure Compatibility
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: JL Audio recommends a 1.875 ft³ sealed box. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 16" W x 15.75" H x 18" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.)
Recommended Ported Box Volume: JL Audio recommends a 2.75 ft³ ported box. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 20" W x 18" H x 18.5" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.) A round port with a diameter of 4" and a length of 16.85" is recommended, resulting in a tuning frequency of 25 Hz and a -3 dB point of 30 Hz.

FAQs
Q: Do I need an amplifier for this subwoofer?
A: Yes, unless it is an active (powered) subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers need an external amplifier matched to the RMS power and impedance shown in the Specification tab.
Q: What size enclosure does this subwoofer need?
A: The recommended enclosure volume is listed in the Specification tab where the manufacturer provides it. As a rule, sealed enclosures give tighter, more accurate bass while ported enclosures deliver more output. Contact CEN if you would like a recommendation for your build.
Q: What does RMS power mean?
A: RMS is the continuous power a subwoofer can handle, and it is the number that matters when matching an amplifier. Peak or max figures describe short bursts only. Match your amplifier output to the RMS rating in the Specification tab.
Q: Sealed or ported enclosure - which should I choose?
A: Sealed boxes are compact and produce tight, controlled bass suited to sound quality builds. Ported boxes are larger and produce more output at low frequencies, suited to those who want maximum impact. Either works well when built to the recommended volume.
