6 1/2” (165MM) 2-WAY COAXIAL KIT
The EC 165 KE audio kit consists of 2 x 6 1/2” (165mm) woofers with coaxial tweeters. It features Focal’s aramid fibre cone. The legacy of our acoustics expertise, this cone, in its iconic yellow cloak, combines lightness, rigidity and damping, the perfect recipe for a good speaker driver. The result is faithful, dynamic, and perfectly defined sound. Combined with the cone, the TMD surround® guarantees low distortion for perfect cone control.
For smooth, precise treble, the kit includes a pair of coaxial tweeters inspired by Focal’s TKME. Its K2 cone with inverted dome, combined with its ‘M’-shaped profile, allows optimal dispersion of high frequencies during in-car listening.
In terms of compactness and design, EC 165 KE is tough and sleek, giving your in-car audio system both good looks and character.
K2 SANDWICH CONE
The aramid fibre cone inherits all of Focal’s unique know-how. Composed of an ultralight foam core, sandwiched between a thin layer of aramid fibre and a layer of fibreglass, it combines 3 key factors when it comes to acoustics: rigidity, lightness and damping, for sound that is as precise and dynamic as it can get.
TKME TWEETER
The ‘M’-profile TKME tweeter extends the frequency response to 22 kHz with an even greater reduction of distortion, for smooth and precise diffusion in the high treble. Coupled with a ‘push-pull’ motor, based on IAL2 technology, it achieves very low resonance frequencies for perfect harmonic balance.
MORE LINEARITY AND PRECISION
The progressive spider on the K2 Power speaker drivers is built around a progressive section to reproduce all the impact of the bass and increase the linearity, precision and dynamics of the sound.
INCREASED SPL
The Radial VC cooling system for the speaker driver coil expels hot air from the coil towards the bottom of the motor through 6 holes. This improves control over the coil temperature, limiting the effects of heat compression and improving reliability. This improves the dynamics of the speaker driver and generates a powerful sound.

Q: Will these speakers fit my car?
A: Most car speakers are standard sizes, but mounting depth and fitting rings vary by vehicle. Check the size in the Specification tab against your vehicle, or contact CEN with your registration and we will confirm fitment and any adapters or fitting kits you need.
Q: Do I need an amplifier to run these speakers?
A: Not always. Most speakers will run from a standard head unit, but a dedicated amplifier lets them perform at their best, particularly for component sets and higher power handling models. The RMS figure in the Specification tab is the guide to how much clean power they can use.
Q: What is the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
A: Coaxial speakers combine the tweeter and woofer in one unit for a simple like-for-like upgrade. Component sets separate the tweeter and woofer with a crossover for better imaging and detail, and suit installs where sound quality is the priority.
Q: Do these come as a pair?
A: Unless stated otherwise, car speakers are sold in pairs. Check the product title and What's Included tab, which lists exactly what is in the box.
